Around 2:12:12 on the video, the truth comes out and several Representatives comment on the issue, so the dozen Republicans did know exactly what they were voting for. Look for the index for the video below on the lower left side of the screen and on the right side of the screen, there are links to all the records on HB 1397, the votes, the history of the various versions, everything you would want to know about the bill.
Now why in the world would 12 otherwise sane Republicans vote for such a controversial bill when 71 other Representatives voted against it? The answer is very simple, the State Chamber of Commerce wanted the bill passed, but why would the Chamber want this bill passed?
The Chamber has an agenda that includes bringing in more investment and jobs into Oklahoma. So far so good, right? However, they find it easier to recruit companies and get them to move offices, warehouses, and plants into Oklahoma if they can downplay our conservative nature, clean up the old red neck image a bit, make us seem more cosmopolitan. Being friendly to gays, transvestites, illegal alien workers, all of this goes a long way toward showing outsiders that Oklahoma is being transformed into a progressive society, more California like morals and standards.
The Channel 4 story on the break in with video:
A good account of the tactics behind the burglary and what Oklahoma activists might face:
Given that Armes was the only one causing such a fuss and allegedly making threats, it is reasonable to ask Don one thing : Did you have anything to do with this break in?
Even if Armes didn’t order or commit the break in personally, he well could have given others the idea to pull off the job knowing that Armes would get blamed. Actions have consequences, do we need a loose cannon with a hair trigger temper representing Oklahomans?
Armes had worked himself into a rage over the Sooner Tea Party robo calls into his House district exposing the transvestite agenda vote that Armes had made back in March. Armes roared, “You all look the same to me.” while wagging his finger in their faces.
Below are three reports of Ames’s abhorrent behavior:
The second lady that Don Armes abused saw this account of Ames’s ungentlemanly act and posted this response:
This reminds me of another instance last session where an elderly gentleman was threatened with arrest after requesting to speak with Rep Sue Tibbs on her Open Carry vote. Who was this “radical” that apparently warranted such treatment? None other than a constituent of Rep Tibbs and a Tulsa County GOP Board member…
I suppose we should wait with bated breath for Speaker Kris Steele to begin a public reprimand hearing for Armes for screaming at the two ladies. Then again, perhaps this doesn’t rise to the high crimes and misdemeanors that private conversations and interruption of preachers require.
